Making a difference in mental health in our communities

We’re recruiting mental health professionals – join us!

About us

We are Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), providing mental health, learning disability, substance misuse and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county.

The Trust (rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission regulator and Outstanding for care) has 3,300 staff working across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles.

You will be joining friendly, passionate colleagues from 52 nations, rich in their diversity, talents and experience, who are committed to providing excellent care to our service users and their loved ones.

We have a team of empathetic leaders inspiring their staff in an environment where everyone is valued and everyone plays a vital role in providing an exemplary service.

Across our communities and within inpatient settings, our workforce is enhanced and strengthened by peer support workers, a brigade of pets as therapy support dogs and our wonderful team of volunteers. Everyone counts.

We’re proud to employ people from all kinds of professions who work together to deliver excellent care, to help people affected by mental ill health and learning and with our Outstanding for caring and Good ratings from CQC, we believe in brilliant care through brilliant people.

Innovative Work

Innovation is one of our core values and that is demonstrated in some of our award-winning teams:

  • Trailblazing work in the criminal justice system, a liaison and diversion service designed to support people out of custody and towards a positive future for good, underpinned by bespoke technology
  • Our mother and baby unit, designed by mums with lived experience, helping to support fellow mums living with mental ill health, their baby and family
  • The vocational rehabilitation team, recognising routine and belonging as a way back to wellness, working with employers to offer hope after illness
  • The Kent and Medway Recovery and Wellbeing College offers educational courses to support mental, physical and emotional wellbeing in shared learning environments in the community
  • Our Open Dialogue service puts the patient at the centre after their first instance of psychosis with meetings involving both family and professionals
  • COVID-19 has led to us operating differently and as we move to the next phase, we are looking at successful practices adopted out of necessity during the pandemic that can continue and be built upon to make a difference to the lives of patients, carers and staff going forward.
